Continual Improvement and Cost Reduction Initiatives

ThyssenKrupp Services is committed to delivering continual improvement and cost reduction to all its customers in all aspects of contract delivery.

In one example we have for the past seven years delivered a minimum 10% year-on-year saving to the customer without any adverse affect on service delivery and quality. To achieve such an impressive result required initiative, commitment and most importantly a robust continual improvement process.

To underpin our continual improvement process with this customer we agreed the implementation of a performance-driven contract with an incentivised delivery mechanism. Once in place quality improvement tools such as “value stream mapping” and condition-based surveys were employed to identify opportunities; and, once generated business cases had been approved, ThyssenKrupp Services implemented, monitored and reported on the achieved results.

Examples of implemented cost reduction/improvement projects with this customer include:

  • Capital investment programme in new and more efficient equipment
  • Investment in new technologies
  • Training programme to increase multi-skilling and tasking
  • Cross service and department synergies
