Health & Safety

ThyssenKrupp Services’’ vision is to be the premier partner of choice for best-in-class industrial and manufacturing outsourced services in the UK. This is achieved by delivering the highest standards of health and safety excellence to our customers. We recognise that this can only come from our employees, completing every detail of the services they provide with safety as a first priority.

To measure health and safety performance and ensure continuous improvement in this core objective we have put in place a safety management system that fully meets the requirements of OHSAS 18001:2002; furthermore, we have held external certification since 2004.

ThyssenKrupp Services’’ Health and Safety Management System is structured and divided into functional sections relating to different business activities and can be simply defined as having three system levels:

  • Level 1
    • Health and Safety Policy showing commitment to apply resources, systems and training to achieve our aims
  • Level 2
    • Documented operating procedures defining responsibility and showing how compliance to our policy and the requirements of OHSAS 18001:2002 is maintained
    • Procedures are in place to control any changes to the system, to handle efficiently any customer concerns or identified non-compliances and to instigate corrective and preventive actions
  • Level 3
    • Job specific safe work instructions and suitable risk assessments giving the details of how each task is performed

All employees are encouraged to take ownership of the Health and Safety Management System used in their areas and suggest possible improvements to the system.

To maintain accreditation ThyssenKrupp Services undergoes a rigorous annual audit, which also assesses our ability to link policies and procedures to defined goals and to ensure continuous improvement.

We are proud of being the first ThyssenKrupp Company in the UK to achieve ISO OHSAS 18001 and, as a supplier who has “maintained a level of excellence in customer satisfaction and demonstrated unwavering commitment and support for continuous improvement in Health and Safety and productivity”, this accreditation affirms our ability to follow standard processes and maintain the highest standards of Health and Safety.

ThyssenKrupp Services is also an active member of RoSPA, The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. As a member we are committed to “enhancing the quality of life by exercising a powerful influence for accident prevention”.

We are also a member of the British Safety Council and as a member we are committed to “working towards health, safety and environmental best practice”.
